Tell Your Story

I recently caught up with a former client, Carrie Rowan, singer/songwriter and author of Tell a New Story

author Carrie Rowan

During our original consultation, I suggested she incorporate QR codes to play original songs that help bring the material in the book to life. So, she wrote a book AND incorporated music from two of her CDs!

Tell a New Story

Carrie shared that her book and songs opened up new opportunities for mindset coaching, corporate training and keynote speaking gigs. Not just ordinary gigs, but corporate presentations that incorporated her original music. Despite the pandemic drying up her regular musical performance opportunities, she found an exciting way to engage her creativity and keep singing on stage!

Now, Carrie’s figuring out which of her many ideas to turn into her next book.

I find it especially heartwarming that Carrie did exactly what she teaches in her book, coaching and training gigs. She could have told herself, “I can’t get any gigs. I can’t play on stage.” But, like many creative people during the pandemic, she found new ways to do what she loves. In essence, she told herself a new story.

What’s Your New Story?

Now, I’m not blaming people whose lives have been upended by the pandemic. But I do think when things go awry, sometimes something better can come out of it. If you do feel frustrated about changes that have occurred, I invite you to be curious and see if there’s an invitation. Maybe it’s time to really make your dreams come true. What dreams have you shelved and put off for “tomorrow”:

  • Tomorrow I’ll write that book.
  • Tomorrow I’ll finish my screenplay.
  • Tomorrow I’ll return to writing poetry, journaling, crafting short stories…

You don’t need tomorrow. You need a plan today. In my experience, you need a consistent, supportive writing practice. It can be every day but it doesn’t have to be.

Some new stories that my clients are telling themselves:

  • Less work freed me up to finally write my book.
  • Being at home has reminded me the importance of creative practices.
  • I realized from the pandemic that the world needs my message NOW, not tomorrow.
  • I discovered how important community is to getting anything done. That’s why I knew I would be so much more effective with the support and accountability of a community to complete my writing projects.

The Invitation

Without further ado, I’d like to invite you to join me and experience to power of writing in community using The TENER Method for Creative Flow. It’s a simple system. It doesn’t take much time. It’s fun. And best of all…IT WORKS!

People say it brings out their best, most creative work. The simple steps we take spark innovative ideas and help writers find their unique voice.

And I’m offering a free training on Sept. 13 so you can experience this method directly.

We’ll start the call with some liberating and creative exercises to get into the flow and then we’ll just write!
