Today we look for magical surprises. My list includes seeing an unusual animal in nature, surprising myself with a poem and hearing the voices of an ancestor while I write, taking dictation.
The last item seems most unusual, so I write about that and my prose turns into a poem:
The joke’s on me today! I expected something airy-fairy but this feels truly haunting. And yet, I know it speaks to the gift in exploring the ancestral wounds and healing the past.
Sometimes it’s hard to see the deeper truths as gifts when they seem dark, but just bringing them to light begins a process of healing that brings peace to ourselves, our families and even the planet.
You don’t need to follow my lead! Your magical day may be light and airy. Enjoy whatever gift your journaling has in store for you today.
Your Turn to Share
I’m curious to see what your journaling generates. Will it be playful? Deep? Joyous? Bold? Ho hum? Magical?
Anything goes. I didn’t necessarily get what I wanted or expected and there’s a tendency for me to then judge it.
If you feel judge-y about your writing, how can you reframe your beliefs about it? Remember we’re just exploring here, no need to perform!

Lisa, your poem gave me the chills. It’s prescient! I want to read that book, after you dive into that project.
Day 18 – Inviting in life’s magic – Prompt – My car magically cleans itself – I hope it’s not too long for a blog.
For my birthday, I gave myself the luxury of having my car cleaned by hand at a small car wash in Peacedale
located 1/2 hr. away. I made that promise at the end of September, but kept putting it off. Many times through the last few weeks, I pictured my car looking sparkling clean. Once, when I was in a silly mood, I patted the dashboard saying,” Soon, soon it will be done loyal vehicle”. In the blink of an eye in my internal vision, I saw my car sprout hands and arms scrub-a-dub-dubbing away all the collected dirt and grime from it’s soiled body. Ah, it will happen soon I think because I’ve learned what you put your focus on gets created. So, on my way to the beach yesterday, I thought about stopping at the car wash, since it was on my way, then I realized it was Sunday – closed. I was in a light hearted mood, cruising out of town, beachbound, when I spotted flailing arms, waving signs and many teenagers shouting “Car wash, car wash”, come beckoning me in hand-sign. I lit up like a Christmas tree pulling into the Richmond school parking lot. A young woman approached, introducing herself as the President of the Student Council in the class of 23′, thanking me kindly. Another teen water hosed the car, then at least 10 teens armed with big, soapy sponges caressed every single nook and cranny of my car’s body, as the infectious, vibrant energy of these teens whisked away the accumulated smudge. My car laughed, as if being tickled and was surprised by the sudden appearance of two forceful hoses blasting the soap scum away to reveal a sparkling gem. They thanked me profusely for my donation, sending me on my merry way grinning from ear to ear. Life is good!

I love how “many hands” manifested! Quite an inspiration.
