Join Me to Explore The Creativity Cure on Reading with Robin

If you missed my interview with Drs. Carrie and Alton Barron, you can listen to it here: Creativity Cure Interview “Reading with Robin”   It was a lot of fun and Carrie and Alton have so much to say about creativity we could have taken two hours.

Below is my original post in anticipation of the interview:

Woohoo. I have never imagined myself as a radio show host, but tomorrow morning I will be. And I am SUPER excited about the book we’ll be exploring on Reading with Robin. While Robin is enjoying Paris with Emily, I’ll be interviewing Drs. Carrie and Alton Barron about how creativity can heal and bring happiness.

The book proposal for The Creativity Cure resulted in a 6-figure book deal!

We’ll explore the 5-part prescription detailed in their book The Creativity Cure, published by Scribners and coming out May 8. I am especially excited about this book, because I’ve worked with the Barrons since Carrie first began exploring the concept as a book and it’s one of the most compelling projects I’ve ever participated in. And this will be the debut radio interview, before the book even hits bookstores!

Here are co-authors Drs. Alton and Carrie Barron with their book, The Creativity Cure. I just received this photo and I am sure I’ll be using this happy, fun photo many times. The authors encourage readers to spend time outdoors, so the location is fitting.

Join me and learn the Barrons’ detailed tools and strategies for cultivating creative outlets, overcoming unconscious fears and barriers to happiness and linking internal thought to external action. We’ll explore how creativity facilitates insight and healing, connects our mental and physical aspects, creates meaning and yields life changing results.

And, of course, as their book coach, I’ll be asking questions about the book writing and publishing process as well.

You can listen on WHJJ 920AM Providence at 7am on Saturday, April 21 or live stream here to listen online.  Ask your questions on by facebook on the Bring Your Book to Life page or phone in at 1-866-920-9455.

In THE CREATIVITY CURE: A Do-It-Yourself Prescription for Happiness, husband-and-wife physicians Carrie and Alton Barron draw upon the latest psychological research, a combined 40 years of medical practice, and personal experience to reveal that creative action is integral to easing depression and anxiety and to fueling long-term happiness and well-being.

Carrie Barron, M.D.,  is a psychiatrist, one time singer and coauthor with her husband Alton Barron, M.D, a hand and shoulder surgeon and marathon runner, of THE CREATIVITY CURE: A Do-It Yourself Prescription for Happiness (Scribner, May 2012)

  1. What an informative, helpful and valuable hour I’ve just spent listening to Lisa Tener’s interview with Drs. Carrie and Alton Barron! Their book, The Creativity Cure, is coming out on May 8th and I’m putting my pre-order in today. I intend to include some of their tips for using creativity to alleviate depression in my own work with depression.
Thank you Lisa and Doctors Barron!
