Over the years, I’ve had several people come to me and say, “I need a book writing coach. I have to write my book. I keep gaining weight and I know I will lose that weight when I write my book.”
One beautiful soul told me recently that her belly actually looks pregnant, “I’ve gained weight in different places before and this time it’s all in my belly. One of my sons even asked me if we were going to have another baby. I know it’s my book. I’m pregnant and I need to give birth!”
What is that about? My guess is that these folks have a deep passion and need to write their books, but something in them is holding them back. They may be afraid of:
- “Playing big” and being visible
- Being ridiculed for what they say in their book
- What may come up when the write the book (emotions, memories, etc.)
- Not being good enough
- Success
- How their life may change when they become a published author.
They stuff these fears and feelings with food, rather than write the book and let the feelings and ideas out. How courageous is the pregnant-looking woman who came to me recently determined to birth her book!
One of the things I love to help people with is to move past such blocks and into a place of personal power–owning your wisdom, living your passion, and writing. Then I can teach them how to write a book and help them complete it.
Now, I never thought of book coaching as a weight loss business, but I am looking forward to seeing if it works.
I’d love to hear from you. Do you think you gained weight by not writing a book? Have you lost weight by writing your book?

That is a good idea being a book writing coach. I’m sure if we start writing a book we won’t be thinking too much about food. Thanks great work

I agree with you totally that there is usually something getting in the way to stop us from a goal we want to achieve. Perhaps committing to writing her book is exactly what she needs to move the excess she needs in her body.
I have a downloadable guide on my website that charts a clear roadmap to use when you want to move toward a goal, whether it be weight loss or anything else. It’s free and can be found at http://www.synthesiscoaching.com.
