Shift Your Perspective to Cultivate Joy

You won’t believe how this small change can shift your whole day.

Do yourself a favor. Look at your life. Find one thing today that’s going right.

Tell somebody this thing you love about your life.

Shift Your Perspective

If you can find one thing that you like and you can inform somebody else about that one thing that you like, it’s going to change your base state of how you feel about your day – even if you’re struggling, you’re in a state of depression, you’re feeling overwhelmed, or you’re feeling a lot of anxiety.

For example: “Oh my God, I just washed my car yesterday and now it’s raining.” This focuses on the negative aspects of the situation. Instead, you can say, “Man, I live in Southern California and we haven’t had rain in 5 months. We needed this.”

When you focus on the good, the good gets better.

Focus on the Positive

Remember, it’s all about the mindset you choose to adopt. When you focus on the positive aspects of your life, no matter how small they may seem, you cultivate a sense of gratitude and joy that can significantly brighten your day. It’s not about ignoring the challenges or pretending they don’t exist, but rather balancing them with the good that surrounds you.

Start your day with this practice: Before you get out of bed, think about one thing you are grateful for. It could be as simple as the warmth of your blanket or the sound of birds chirping outside your window. Let this thought guide you as you navigate your day.

Share your gratitude with others. Tell a friend, family member, or even a colleague, about the positive thing you’ve identified. Not only does this reinforce your own sense of happiness, but it also spreads positivity to those around you.

By consistently shifting your focus towards gratitude, you train your mind to recognize and appreciate the positives, creating a ripple effect that can transform your overall outlook on life. I encourage you to take that small step today and watch how it can shift your entire perspective.

Take the First Step

You’ve got to be able to shift your perspective one degree in order to stay in a perpetual state of joy, and all it takes is that first step. I know you can do it. Get after it.
