When we’re willing to be witnessed in our vulnerability, our body can finally release what we’ve been holding onto. Ma-Xing helps us uncover what’s buried inside. This reveals whether we process inwardly or outwardly, and teaches us how to truly let go.
What is Ma-Xing?
Ma-Xing means horse stomping. The practice is called Ma-Xing because practitioners use their feet to increase the health of your tissue and remove all the discomfort and pain sitting inside the middle of your structural tissues.
Ma-Xing serves many functions. It clues us into what you’re holding onto, and it lets us know whether or not you’re an internal or external processor.
External processors let go of more pain. So that means that they’re more comfortable letting people into their insecurities and their inner deficiencies. They’re more comfortable in a position of vulnerability.
Internal processors hold onto more pain. People who are holding onto things have more trouble accessing a feeling of freedom through the process of being vulnerable, honest and transparent.
Luckily, Ma-Xing forces every single person that receives the work to get into an intense state of receptivity. This is important because you can only be receptive when you’re open.
How Does it Differ From Swedish Massage?
Swedish massage is nice for the upper body. But they’re never going to be able to generate enough force to create enough potential change for you, because the fingers and the elbows, they’re too pointy. And when they’re that pointy, it puts too much pressure on the nerve, right? And so then the muscles are never really relaxing as you’re driving into it with that much force.
But when we’re using the foot, the length of the foot and the width of the foot, allow for the pressure to be more even. And we use a specific kind of rhythm, so we’re going over the same tissue again and again. So, let’s say it was the forearm, for instance, right? We’re going to move from top to bottom, and then from bottom to top over and over until that tension in there really surrenders, right? But the big thing for people to understand about Ma-Xing is that it’s something that you’re receiving.
