This is Your Sign to Be More Selfish

This is your sign that it’s okay to be more selfish.

When you act out of obligation, you are bringing unnecessary stress, tension, and distortion. Anything that is obligatory may be outside of what it is you are really desiring to experience. So take a half step back and ask yourself, “Is this the experience that I am really desiring to have?”

Stand Up for What You Want

If you come to a clear and distinct “No,” inform those around you that you are actually wanting to do something different with your time.

I know it’s confusing because society has painted selflessness as a virtue and selfishness as a vice.

The reality is that some aspect of every human is vested in whatever they are experiencing. But when you’re doing things out of obligation in order to receive love from others to prove that you have value, you’re actually stepping away from your authentic self. And when you’re out of authenticity, your body, your brain, and your nervous system is interpreting reality as stressful.

Give yourself a little bit of peace of mind because sometimes selfless actions are actually really selfish.
